InsideTrack Flexible Coaching Skills Credential

The InsideTrack Flexible Coaching Skills Credential combines training, feedback, and exams to support practitioners of coaching skills in developing the knowledge, skills, and beliefs required to effectively coach learners. The program aims to encourage a growth mindset and ensures participants are meeting InsideTrack’s proven criteria for high-quality student coaching.

This training program employs multiple approaches to support participants in applying learning to their daily work:

  • Ongoing classroom training to reinforce coach skills

  • Regular observation feedback to identify individual strengths and areas for growth

  • A portfolio to allow participants to demonstrate their coaching knowledge and skills

This holistic approach promotes effective learning and strengthens outcomes for learners and institutions.

By completing this credential, participants will accomplish a selection of the following, depending on the workshops attended...

  1. Identify an opportunity to improve the quality or consistency of coaching frames, and articulate a plan to put that opportunity into practice.

  2. Describe one way to use the Protect-Connect-Respect-Redirect model in coaching interactions and articulate a plan to put that into practice.

  3. Identify one situation where increased transparency would benefit a coaching relationship and write an example of language that could apply in that situation.

  4. Compose a role statement and describe a situation in which that role statement would be beneficial.

  5. Compose language to introduce Focus Areas topic to a learner and articulate a plan to use that language.

  6. Convert closed-ended questions into open-ended questions.

  7. Identify one opportunity to improve assessment and active listening skills and articulate a plan to put that into practice.

  8. Identify issues for their learner population that would merit using different prioritization approaches and compose language that can be used in a coaching interaction for these approaches.

  9. Evaluate their current practice of instructional and developmental advancing in order to identify opportunities to increase effectiveness

  10. Successfully demonstrate developmental advancing

  11. Use assessment skills to promote clarity and learner buy-in related to intended actions.

  12. Use the CLEAR framework to analyze a personal experience and apply at least one concept from the CLEAR framework to enhance learner support

  13. Identify one way to more consistently connect learners’ actions to their goals or values in the summaries of coaching interactions.

  14. Utilize the "wedding cake model" to compose three follow-up assessment questions to uncover a learner's core values

  15. Describe at least one way to use a strengths-based coaching technique and project the impact of applying it in a learner interaction.

  16. Identify an action to increase overall learner impact.
